MAINE, USA — Umbrellas and rain jackets will be a part of Portland Pride, Father's Day, and Juneteenth, as we have a rainy weekend ahead. Luckily, the second half of this three-day weekend will start to look a little bit better.
As of Saturday morning, showers have already started around the state. Many Mainers will see lighter rainfall this morning, but the rain will pick up, as we head into the afternoon. This is all because of a low pressure system that will sit over the area today and tomorrow.
The good news: This pattern will start to move off to our east next week and make way for nicer weather.
Showers begin to pick up Saturday afternoon, as the daytime heating aids in cloud development. A few storms are possible, as well.
Showers continue Father's Day morning, as the low sits over the region, but this is where it will start to change.
Sunday afternoon sees a change with showers moving off to our east, leaving us with cloudy skies.
Maine is looking at anywhere from one to 2.5 inches of rain. Many Mainers will be on the lower receiving end, but heavier showers and storms will result on the higher end of rain totals for some.
After we get through this weekend, the trend starts to shift. High pressure will return to the area with a ridge that allows summer heat to return, as well. Are highs around the average of 74 not warm enough for you? Don't worry! The end of next week will warm up quite a bit more and peak in the 80s (with maybe a couple of 90s, as well).
Can you expect lots of sunshine, too? Yes! Check out the full forecast here.
Enjoy the rain!
