PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine Celtics on Monday fell short in their quest for championship title.
The Oklahoma City Blue defeated the Celtics 117-100 in Portland to clinch the G League title in the third and final game of the series. JD Davison led the Celtics with 22 points, while Ousmane Dieng led the Blue with 25 points. Drew Peterson and Joe Wieskamp chipped in 13 points apiece for the Celtics.
The Blue earned their first championship in franchise history. The Celtics were originally founded in 2009 as the Maine Red Claws and have yet to win a title.
The game wasn't the only Maine-related professional basketball action Monday night. Maine native Mackenzie Holmes was selected by the Seattle Storm in the WNBA draft.
