LEWISTON, Maine — A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly causing three crashes Monday night, and leading Lewiston police and Androscoggin County deputies on a chase.
Lewiston police first got a call for a head-on crash at the intersection of Park Street and Birch Street at around 11:10 p.m., Lewiston Police Chief Derrick St. Laurent told NEWS CENTER Maine. One of the cars involved left the scene. It was described as a silver Hyundai four-door.
About 15 minutes later, the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office responded to a car that went off the road and hit a telephone pole on Route 202 in Greene. The car involved matched the description of the car involved in the Lewiston crash, St. Laurent said.
When deputies arrived on scene, they saw the car also almost hit two pedestrians.
Deputies pursued the car back into Lewiston. The car pulled into a residence on Main Street. The driver crashed the car into the woods behind the building, St. Laurent said. The driver took off into the woods.
Lewiston police and Androscoggin County deputies located the driver just after midnight. Police identified him as 19-year-old Jimmy Kikuni.
Kikuni had three active warrants out for his arrest. He is facing multiple charges related to Monday night's incident from Lewiston police and the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office. The charges include leaving the scene of an accident, violating conditions of release, eluding, and operating under the influence.
Kikuni has been released on eight sets of bail conditions.
