Residents warned of bear spotted on home surveillance camera in Lewiston

Police say people should take steps to keep the bear from stumbling onto their property.

LEWISTON, Maine — Police in Lewiston say a bear was spotted overnight Monday in the Pettengill, Central, Wellman neighborhood.

The bear was spotted on a home surveillance camera, according to a post that the Lewiston Police Department shared on their social social media page on Monday. 

Police are encouraging people who live in the area should take steps to keep the bear off their property. 

Residents should secure their garbage and recyclables that are outside. They should also remove things that attract bears, such as outdoor bird feeders, and pet food.
