GRAY, Maine — One person was injured in a garage fire at a home in Gray on Friday afternoon.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m., the Cumberland County Regional Communications Center received a report of smoke in the garage at 19 Libby Hill Road, Gray Fire Rescue said in a news release.

Fire crews responded to the scene and reported "nothing showing from a ranch house with an attached garage."

However, shortly after crews were able to locate a fire inside the garage. The fire was quickly put out before extending into the home's breezeway, according to the release.

Gray Fire Rescue said one person was taken to Maine Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The state fire marshal's office was called to investigate the cause of the fire, which was determined to be an electrical short, the release said.

Fire crews from Windham, New Gloucester, Raymond, and Poland assisted at the scene.

This is the second fire Gray has seen this week. On Wednesday, a home on Pennell Lane caught fire, killing one cat. The cause remains under investigation.
