SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A woman from Buxton has died following a crash in Scarborough that injured three people Monday morning.
First responders were called to the area near the intersection of County Road and Riverwoods Drive around 9 a.m. for a reported crash, according to a news release from the Scarborough Police Department.
NEWS CENTER Maine went to the scene, where a sedan and pickup truck appeared to have collided head-on.
Scarborough police Chief Mark Holmquist told NEWS CENTER Maine a preliminary investigation suggests the sedan crossed the center line and into the path of the oncoming truck, which led to the crash.
Two adults and a four-year-old child were reportedly brought to the hospital. Police said 48-year-old Tina Rea from Buxton, who was involved in the crash, died from her injuries. Police said the well-being of the second adult is unknown at this time, however, the child was released from the hospital.
A section of County Road was closed for several hours while crews cleared the area and investigated the crash. The road was reopened around 1 p.m.
The investigation remains ongoing.
