MAINE, USA — Kennebunk first responders said Tuesday they were called to a fiery crash after a car reportedly struck a truck hauling honey bees on the Maine Turnpike.
The incident comes as the second crash involving a truck hauling bees along a Maine highway within the week.
A passenger car rear-ended a tractor-trailer truck hauling honey bees and caught fire, Kennebunk Fire-Rescue said on Facebook.
"After extinguishing the vehicle we were requested to use a water stream using a rain down method to simulate a rain storm to calm down the agitated bees and get them to return to the hive," Kennebunk Fire-Rescue said.
No honey bees were reportedly harmed as crews responded.
On Thursday, Maine State Police responded to a rollover crash in Clinton involving a tractor-trailer hauling 15 million bees.
