WESTBROOK, Maine — Maine State Police have arrested a man from Westbrook for allegedly killing his roommate in November.
Westbrook police received a call for a medical emergency at about 11:35 p.m. on Nov. 21 at a residence on Lamb Street, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a press release.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found 59-year-old Robert Seger of Westbrook unresponsive in a bedroom, Moss said. Emergency crews rushed Seger to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he later died from his injuries, the release stated.
The Westbrook Police Department requested the assistance of the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South to investigate Seger's death.
"Seger had suffered multiple blunt force injuries," Moss stated. The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta did an autopsy and determined Seger died from blunt force trauma injuries. His manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Seger's roommate, 47-year-old James Fowler, was identified as the person who called 911, according to the press release. He told police he and Seger got into an argument, and that he left the residence and came back.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Fowler. They arrested him shortly after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the same address in Westbrook, Moss said.
Police charged Fowler with depraved indifference murder. He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
