Brothers accused of fleeing Limington school bus crash found hiding in wall

With the help of a K-9 officer, police found the brothers hiding inside a wall in an upstairs bedroom, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.

LIMINGTON, Maine — Two brothers accused of fleeing the scene of a crash with a school bus have been arrested.

Robert Hargis, 33, and Patrick Hargis, 30, were taken to the York County Jail on Wednesday after law enforcement executed a search warrant at 361 Sokokis Ave. in Limington, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a release.

With the help of a K-9 officer, police found the brothers hiding inside a wall in an upstairs bedroom, according to Moss. Maine State Police were assisted by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

The brothers are accused of fleeing the scene of a crash on Sokokis Avenue on June 14 after the car they were traveling in struck a school bus.

"The vehicle behind the bus, a 4-door sedan, failed to slow down in time and crashed into the back side of the bus," Moss said. "The damage to both the bus and the sedan was severe and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene."
