BELGRADE, Maine — A Belgrade woman is recovering after she was seriously injured during a shooting incident Sunday, and her son has been arrested and charged in connection with the case.
Emergency officials were called around 11 a.m. for a report of a shooting at a home on Point Road. Maine State Police, Belgrade Rescue, and Delta Ambulance responded to the scene, where they found a woman seriously injured, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss shared Monday in a news release.
Christina Bell, 58, who lives at the residence, was seriously injured in the incident, though the cause of her injuries was not released. Bell was brought by LifeFlight of Maine to Maine Medical Center in Portland before she was transferred to a hospital in Boston, state officials shared. She is expected to survive.
The suspect, who was identified as Bell's son, apparently left the residence after the incident but was taken into custody by state police custody nearby on Guptill Road, according to the news release.
Samuel Bell, 26, has been charged with attempted murder and elevated aggravated assault and was brought to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility. He did not live at his mother's residence, the news release stated.
The incident remains under investigation.
