Death of Bangor man, 24, ruled a homicide

Police said a 24-year-old man found shot on Highland Avenue has died. No arrests have been announced.

BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor man who was shot Tuesday morning has died and authorities say his death was ruled a homicide.

Daniel Ford-Coates, 24, was found shot shortly after 4 a.m. on Highland Avenue after police said they received a report of an altercation. He was taken to an area hospital where he died, police announced Wednesday afternoon.

"A post-mortem examination was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta and the manner of death was determined to be homicide," Bangor police said in a statement. "This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. No further information is available at this time as the investigation is active."

Police did not announce any arrests in connection with the case.
