WESTBROOK, Maine — Cheese lovers will be glad to know that the Old Port’s artisan grilled cheese restaurant Cheese Louise is opening a second Maine location on Rock Row in Westbrook.

Owners announced their expansion in a press release Thursday morning with a 2025 opening date in mind. Cheese Louise currently has locations in Concord, New Hampshire, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Portland, Maine

Grilled cheese is a staple for most children and adults alike, but Cheese Louise has found a way to elevate this simple dish, with menu items like “The Porky-Pine,” a grilled cheese sandwich with pulled pork, pineapple, and goat cheese stuffed inside. Over the past year, the restaurant owners have refined their menu, by adding vegan options, craft beer, cocktails, tomato soup, home-made pickles, mac and cheese, and salads, according to a news release.

“We pride ourselves in providing phenomenal grilled cheese for everyone while making a difference in our communities,” Bryce Harrison, co-founder of Cheese Louise, said.

Harrison said Cheese Louise isn’t just about making delicious food but giving back to society.

“From financially supporting charities in our communities to empowering the youth with a foundational job experience, we’re excited to bring our vision to Rock Row,” Harrison, said.

Rock Row in Westbrook is a $600 million, 110-acre mixed-use development that features an open-air retail and entertainment district, including restaurants, health and wellness services, shops, and events, according to the release.

“By curating a mix of tenants that offer distinct flavors and experiences, we aim to foster a dynamic and vibrant food scene that attracts locals and visitors alike, enhancing Rock Row’s reputation as a prime dining destination," Josh Levy, CEO of Waterstone Properties Group, developers of Rock Row, said.
