It’s no secret, our rainfall deficit is huge so any rain we get is incredibly beneficial. A frontal system will pass through today with those much needed raindrops. A steady period of rain, with an occasional downpour, will fall during this morning’s drive. Most roads will be wet and the commute is expected to be a slow one.
The steady rain will taper off by the middle of the day, but a trailing cold front will slide through, additional showers will develop.
The showers that form along the cold front will shift south by very early in the evening...sometime between 4-6 PM. This is great news for the high school football games as skies will be clearing out quickly. We’ve had some dramatic sunsets lately and this evening has big potential too! Winds will freshen up out of the north, adding a chill to the air so if you head out this evening make sure to bring a layer!
The first weekend of Autumn will definitely feel like it as the coldest air of the season settles in. Daytime highs will be in the lower 60s but overnight lows may dip down close to 32. If you have plants in pots on the back deck, I suggest you bring them in Saturday and Sunday night just in case. Have a great weekend! – Todd Gutner
