MAINE, USA — Twins! I'm an expert on them and can spot them anywhere. While no two storms are alike, the next storm we get this weekend has a lot of similarities as the one that just dropped a swath of snow through New England.
It's originating from the same area, organizing in the Midwest. It's going to take a similar path and track just south of Portland, hugging the coastline before exiting into the Maritimes. It's also fairly fast moving, starting Saturday evening and ending Sunday morning, about 12 hours. So, the end result and final amounts should be real close to what we just saw, around half a foot.
The storm starts late Saturday afternoon and early evening and with very cold conditions preceding it and lock in, roads will instantly get snow covered again.
It snows pretty good most of the night with rates ranging from 1/2" to 1" per hour in the warm advection thump.
The storm ends quickly Sunday morning. The snow will be light and fluffy to start, but it gets wetter along the coast and may mix briefly with some rain.
Enjoy the weekend.
