Snow today, amounts going up

A weak storm system will slide through New England today dropping several inches of snow by tomorrow morning.

MAINE, USA — Low pressure is developing along a frontal boundary to our south this morning.

Mild and moist air is traveling north, battling with cold, dry air over Northern New England. Overrunning, advection snow will spread in this morning and creep north through the day.

The northern edge will have a tough time penetrating Eastern and Central Maine, but gradual saturation will overcome the bone dry lower levels and snow will reach as far north as the Central Highlands this evening.

This will never be a powerful storm.

We won't see damaging wind or pounding surf, but a light to moderate paced, long duration snow event will cause commuting problems through the afternoon and night.
