MAINE, USA — November has taken a hard turn toward winter, with an intense shot of cold that has origins in the arctic.
The first statewide snow and ice of the cold season occurred Tuesday.
Portland set a new record cold high temperature as well; hitting only 33 degrees for a high, breaking the previous record for November 12 of 36 degrees set in 2004.
Wednesday morning, low temperatures were very close to breaking records as well; Portland's record was 11 degrees set in 1941, Bangor's record was 10 set in 1939.
We'll see lots of sun today but highs will only make it back to around 30 and "feels-like" temps will remain in the teens.
This afternoon, both cities should fail to reach the coldest high temperatures set previously on November 13.
Tomorrow morning's lows will be in the single digits and teens, and the record lows may fall too.
