Severe thunderstorms move through Maine

As of 6 p.m. Sunday, Central Maine Power was reporting about 6,200 customers without power. Versant Power was reporting about 1,500 customers in the dark.

PORTLAND, Maine — The severe thunderstorm threat in Maine expires at 8 p.m. Sunday, and the sky will clear after midnight. 

Here's the latest update as of 5 p.m. Sunday:

As of 6 p.m. Sunday, Central Maine Power was reporting about 6,200 customers without power. Versant Power was reporting about 1,500 customers in the dark.

Mainers will see sunshine Monday and dropping humidity levels for all of the state, although it will take a little longer for the southern coast to dry out completely. 

Look for warm temps through midweek and rising humidity, too. 

There will be a few passing showers or thunderstorms on the Fourth of July, but fireworks events aren't expected to be cancelled.
