PORTLAND, Maine — This has been a week, jeez. One system after another.
On Friday we got another one. It's a messy wintry mix of rain, snow, and ice. It started in the morning and was expected to last most of the day.
While I don't think or anticipate it to be hugely impactful, roads will slush up and get greasy, especially over the interior.
Thankfully, we have a few things on our side this time.
This storm will pass through during the daylight hours. Even though no sun will be seen, energy will help stabilize surface temps, keeping them around 32 and not significantly below like they were in the last storm.
Crews have been out countless times this week treating roads with salt and sand, and that should help prevent a repeat of the other night when snow and ice made driving conditions treacherous.
The weekend will be quiet, but please don't completely unplug.
A larger storm will threaten us Sunday night and Monday morning with accumulating snow. We're still wrestling with the track and will pass along a snow map over the weekend, if needed.
