MAINE, USA — Happy Halloween!
It's going to be frighteningly cold for trick-or-treating tonight, with ghostly temperatures in the forecast.
Everyone will be plagued with a creepy chill, but some more than others.
Many will start trick-or-treating as the sun sets around 5:30 this evening, with mostly clear skies and dry conditions. Temperatures along the coastline will sit in the low 40s as you're out with the kids grabbing candy. The good news is, no rain!
If you live further inland, expect even cooler temps. Temps will be sitting at and then below freezing during the candy grabbing hours, so you'll want to bundle up.
Here's a few tips on how to stay warm while you're outside (and they won't ruin your costume):
A skin-colored body suit can add a warm layer to your costume without ruining whatever ghoul, ghost, or zombie costume you are wearing. Layers are good too if costumes allow it.
Hand and feet warmers are great because they keep extremities that get coldest the fastest warmer. That's your fingers and toes!
Hot apple cider and hot chocolate are both good options for staying warm whilst outside. You always want to eat something (maybe some candy?) to fuel up to give your body energy.
Last but not least, keep it moving! Movement will help your body stay warm. If someone doesn't answer their door in 15 seconds or so, maybe move along to the next house. Keep going from one house to hold onto a little more heat.
Happy Halloween!
