MAINE, USA — Activity in the tropics settled down for a short period of time, and now it's surging again.
Hurricane Delta - rapidly strengthening overnight - is on track to impact Cozumel and Cancun as a major hurricane tomorrow. From there, it will move into the Gulf of Mexico, and the National Hurricane Center forecasts the storm to reach category four strength.
Nine tropical systems have made landfall in the United States so far this year, tying the record set in 1916. Six of those storms have hit the Gulf coast, including Laura and Sally, responsible for destruction in Louisiana and Alabama.
