Power restored to most southern Maine towns after overnight storms

Central Maine Power reported more than 3,000 customers without power up until 7:00 a.m. Sunday, with nearly half of those in Yarmouth.

YARMOUTH, Maine — The power is back on in Yarmouth Sunday morning after strong storms knocked out power to hundreds of customers in the area.

As of 8:24 a.m. Sunday, Central Maine Power reports 144 customers without power.

At 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Central Maine Power reported more than 3,000 customers without power, with about 1,300 of those in Yarmouth.

The Maine Savings Pavilion had to briefly evacuate concertgoers from the Shinedown show Saturday night due to the weather, asking them to take shelter in the vehicles. Staff said Saturday's show was expected to be one of the busiest so far this season. Concertgoers were allowed back one hour later.

A dispatcher for Yarmouth told NEWS CENTER Maine that the storm "went completely over Yarmouth."

Strong rain and thunder also hit the Lewiston-Auburn area.

All roads in Yarmouth have reopened, but dispatchers warn drivers that CMP crews may still be out working in some areas.
