PORTLAND, Maine — Editor's note: The video attached to this story was published Nov. 27, 2023.
Snowstorms have been few and far between so far this winter season. Originally it looked like a few inches for southern Maine tomorrow, but now it is a bit of a nothing burger for our area.
The guidance for this storm hasn't been great. It's been shifting the storm north and south again every few hours, heavily impacting our snow total forecasts.
At this time, the storm has been trending south, which means it now looks like an almost total miss for us. The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Watches and Warnings for southern New England, but no winter weather alerts are present in Maine.
Something we can expect is coastal flooding from Kittery to Harpswell. Tides are running high and we are looking at some minor coastal flooding Tuesday during high tide. The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory.
As for snow, the estimated snowfall amounts have been dropping all day. This system looks like a miss for us, so if we see any snow, it will be from a northern band from this system that brings a dusting to southern Maine. Any snow showers that could occur would be between 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The heavy snow will be passing to our south.
Little to no accumulation is expected, and besides a few snow showers; Tuesday now just looks like a mostly cloudy day.
Keep in mind that this system has been difficult to forecast and we still may see some changes as the storm approaches tonight/tomorrow morning. As always, we will keep you updated online and on-air, so stay with us.
