Flash flood warning in York County Tuesday until 8:15 am

The NWS is warning people about the area of I-95 between mile markers 18 to 27 and Fortunes Rock Beach.

YORK COUNTY, Maine — The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a flash flood warning for central York County, Maine. This area includes Biddeford, Sanford, Saco, Kennebunk, Berwick, Lebanon, Kennebunkport, Wells, South Berwick, and Arundel.

Just after 5 a.m., Doppler radar showed showers and thunderstorms dropping 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain in this area. An additional 1 to 2 inches could fall. 

Remember, flash flooding can impact creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and low-lying, poor drainage areas.

Some specific locations that could see problems include I-95 between mile markers 18 and 27. 

The NWS is also warning Fortunes Rock Beach.

When encountering flooded roads, turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles, according to the NWS in Gray.
