PORTLAND, Maine — Much of the state woke up Sunday to a coating of freshly fallen snow.
The storm, which brought mixed precipitation to the mid-Atlantic and southern New England states, was forecast to be an all-snow event in the Pine Tree State. The highest snowfall totals were anticipated in southern Maine, with estimates of about a foot possible in York County.
As of Sunday morning, NEWS CENTER Maine's chief meteorologist Todd Gutner said snowfall could be heavy at times, with a rate of about an inch per hour, and winds were expected to carry the light, fluffy snow around, which could cause blowing and drifting into Monday.
