I-95 in northern Maine coated with ice from freezing drizzle

NEWS CENTER Maine viewer says a tractor-trailer truck went off the road.

MILLINOCKET, Maine — I-95 in northern Maine between Millinocket and Houlton is coated in ice, according to driver reports in the area.

NEWS CENTER Maine viewer Pete Hansen sent video of a tractor-trailer truck off the road.

"We almost went off the road and were not able to stop at all. I got out of the car and the roads were pure ice, like a slip 'n slide," Hansen said.

Meteorologist Ryan Breton confirms temperatures this morning were near freezing in northern Maine with light rain and drizzle passing through; the cold air caused the road to ice up.

There are more concerns for freezing rain later this weekend across a larger portion of the state.
