(USA TODAY) — Travel attractions are competing for your attention — and in many cases, your tourism dollars — everywhere you go. But how do you tell which are memorable and which are more time and effort than they're worth?
USA TODAY asked TripAdvisor to help identify one attraction in all 50 states (plus D.C.) that garners the best ratings and reviews from its users.
In Maine, the top-rated attraction is the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, which opened to the public about a decade ago, spans some 270 acres and is festively brightened each holiday season with more than 360,000 lights for "Gardens Aglow."
