Waterville man dies in Winslow crash

Two others suffered injuries that appeared to be minor, according to police.

WATERVILLE, Maine — A man died and two other people were injured after two vehicles collided in Winslow Monday morning.

It happened shortly before 5:45 a.m. on Augusta Road, also referred to as Route 201, at the Taylor Road intersection, Winslow police said in a release.

Nicholas Blanchard, 34, of Augusta, was driving north in a 2017 Chevy Trax, and Dominic Reid, 21, of Waterville, was driving south in a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, when the two vehicles collided near the centerline of the roadway, the release stated.

Reid died at the scene, police said. His passenger, 21-year-old Jasmine French, was taken to Thayer Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries, according to police.

Blanchard, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle he was driving, sustained minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital, the release stated.

Officials said Maine State Police would reconstruct the crash, which remains under investigation. Speed and alcohol are not considered factors, according to police.
