Pedestrian dies in Wilton crash

The man was dressed in dark clothing in a poorly lit area when he was struck while walking near a family member's home, according to Wilton police.

WILTON, Maine — A pedestrian died Sunday after being hit by a pickup truck in Wilton.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. on Munson Road, according to a release from Wilton police.

Levi Jewel, 29, of Wilton, died at the scene, police said. First responders attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful, the release stated.

Jewel was hit by a 2007 Ford F-350 pickup truck driven by Tyler Hamlin, 29, of Farmington, according to police. Jewel was dressed in dark clothing in a poorly lit area when he was struck while walking near a family member's home, officials said.

The Maine State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting in the ongoing investigation.

Police said no further information would be released at this time.
