WEST PARIS, Maine — The Oxford County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash that happened Tuesday in West Paris involving a car and a pedestrian, who sustained serious injuries.
Shortly before 5 p.m., sheriff's deputies, along with the West Paris Fire Department, Woodstock Fire Department, and PACE Ambulance Service, responded to the area of 32 Main Street, the sheriff's office said Wednesday in a news release.
Investigators determined the driver, 25-year-old Andrew Blaser of West Paris, was backing a car out of a driveway when he "struck and seriously injured" a 42-year-old female pedestrian from West Paris. Officials said she was walking past the driveway along Main Street when she was hit.
The pedestrian was taken to Stephen's Memorial Hospital in Norway, according to the release.
The sheriff's office said driver inattention or distraction may be contributing factors to the crash.
There are no charges at this time, but the crash remains under investigation,, the release stated.
