Crash on Route 9 in Clifton sends four to hospital

A car crossed over the eastbound lane of Route 9 and went off the road. The vehicle was heavily damaged.

CLIFTON, Maine — On Friday the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-car crash on Route 9 in Clifton.

Police say around 10:45 a.m., a vehicle traveling west on Rte. 9 in Clifton crossed over the eastbound lane and went off the road. The vehicle was heavily damaged.

The vehicle was occupied by two men and two women. All the occupants were transported to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center with various injuries. 

Eddington Fire, along with Holden Fire and Brewer Fire responded to the call.

The accident is being reconstructed and investigated by the Sheriff’s Office. 

The accident caused traffic to stop for a time Friday morning.
