AUGUSTA, Maine — A 17-year-old boy was seriously injured in a crash on Cony Road with three other teens in the car, the Augusta Police Department said in a news release Thursday.
Shortly before 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, police went to the scene of the single-vehicle crash where they determined a 2010 Toyota Corolla was traveling north on Cony Road when it went off the roadway to the right and struck a service pole, according to the release.
Police said the vehicle was occupied by four teenage boys at the time of the crash.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy from West Gardiner, was treated for minor injuries while one passenger, a 17-year-old boy from Randolph, was taken by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center where he remains in "serious but stable condition," the release stated.
The two other passengers, both 17 years old from West Gardiner, were treated on the scene by Augusta Fire and Rescue crew members and then released, police said.
The Maine State Police were contacted to conduct a crash reconstruction, which resulted in the closure of Cony Road for some time on Wednesday.
The crash remains under investigation.
