State Trooper injured after tractor-trailer rear-ends his cruiser closing Turnpike for hours

The Maine Turnpike's northbound lanes were closed Friday morning from Gray to Auburn as State Police investigated a crash involving a State trooper.

A State Trooper is being treated for several injuries after a tractor-trailer rear-ended his cruiser Friday morning in New Gloucester causing I-95 northbound from Gray to Auburn to close for several hours.

Trooper John Davis was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with none-life threatening injuries, according to Public Saftey spokesman Steve McCausland.

Davis was responding to two cars that had slid off the highway Friday morning when he was rear-ended sending his cruiser into a guardrail and on its side. McCausland says Davis was pinned inside his cruiser after the accident that happened around 5 a.m.

The 17-year veteran of the State Police had his emergency lights on and was parked in the breakdown lane when he was hit.

The 28-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer, Aminder Munday, was cited for imprudent speed and a log book violation. Munday was hauling food bound for the Walmart distribution center in Lewiston.
