A State Trooper is being treated for several injuries after a tractor-trailer rear-ended his cruiser Friday morning in New Gloucester causing I-95 northbound from Gray to Auburn to close for several hours.
Trooper John Davis was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with none-life threatening injuries, according to Public Saftey spokesman Steve McCausland.
Davis was responding to two cars that had slid off the highway Friday morning when he was rear-ended sending his cruiser into a guardrail and on its side. McCausland says Davis was pinned inside his cruiser after the accident that happened around 5 a.m.
The 17-year veteran of the State Police had his emergency lights on and was parked in the breakdown lane when he was hit.
The 28-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer, Aminder Munday, was cited for imprudent speed and a log book violation. Munday was hauling food bound for the Walmart distribution center in Lewiston.
Slippery, wet and icy conditions caused several car accidents Friday.
Traffic cameras showed the congestion on north and south lanes of I-95 at exit 63.
