FALMOUTH, Maine — A pedestrian was killed Tuesday evening in a hit-and-run crash on Gray Road in Falmouth. The identities of the person who was killed and the alleged driver were released Wednesday.

Town officials posted on their social media page at 3:30 p.m. to alert the public that a section of the road was closed from Leighton to Mountain Roads.

About a half-hour before, police and emergency officials were called to the scene after receiving a call about a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

"When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered a deceased male on the side of the roadway," Falmouth police said Tuesday evening in a news release.

The vehicle involved in the crash was not at the scene when officials arrived, but the driver and vehicle were located at a parking lot about half a mile from the crash around 5:30 p.m., police said.

In an update Wednesday afternoon, police identified the driver as 40-year-old Colin Guimont of New Gloucester. No charges were filed by the time the updated news release was issued.

Falmouth police also identified the deceased on Wednesday as 44-year-old Jedidiah Watson of Portland.

Town officials posted an update at 7 p.m. Tuesday noting that Gray Road had reopened to traffic.

Maine State Police also responded to the crash to assist Falmouth police in their response and investigation, a spokesperson with the Maine Department of Public Safety confirmed.

The investigation is ongoing, and police ask that anyone who may have information about the crash or any witnesses to call them at 207-781-2300.
