Driver killed after vehicle collides with tractor-trailer in Saco

The driver crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and collided with the truck, police said.

SACO, Maine — A driver was killed in a crash in Saco Friday.

Saco police said in a 9:54 a.m. social media post that Buxton Road, also known as Route 112, was closed between Grant Road and Rocky Hill Road due to the crash. The road was reopened around 1:30 p.m.

Police later said in a press release that the driver of a black Nissan Versa was headed west when the vehicle crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck a Western Express tractor-trailer. 

The Versa driver was killed. Police said they are withholding the driver's identity pending notification of the person's family.

Officials said drivers should avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
