MECHANIC FALLS, Maine — A section of Route 26 has reopened after officials closed the stretch of road Wednesday morning due to a crash.
The road was closed from the Poland-Mechanic Falls border to Lane Road, the Mechanic Falls Police Department said in a social media post. Police told NEWS CENTER Maine at 11:30 a.m. that the road had reopened.
Police said there were utility lines across the roadway, and encouraged drivers to find alternative routes for their Wednesday morning commute.
Regional School Unit 16, which serves the towns of Poland, Minot, and Mechanic Falls, said there could be bus delays Wednesday morning due to the road closure.
"Route 26 is closed from Five Corners (near Hannaford) to Lane Road due to an accident involving downed power lines," the school district said in a social media post. "As alternative routes will be necessary for student drop-offs, we anticipate delays this morning. Refer to the BusRight app to track your bus location and delays."
Police have not yet provided any further information about the crash.
