GOULDSBORO, Maine — A section of Route 1 in Gouldsboro was closed for several hours Friday while emergency crews from several local and state agencies were responding to a serious crash.
Hancock County dispatchers issued a statement around 4:20 p.m. stating the crash occurred near Pond Road, and traffic was being diverted through West Bay Road and South Gouldsboro Road.
People were asked to avoid the area and keep the roads clear to allow emergency responders to navigate the scene.
The road reopened to traffic around 6:30 p.m., Hancock County dispatchers said in an updated post.
NEWS CENTER Maine sent crews to the scene, where emergency responders from numerous agencies were seen attending to two vehicles that appeared to be involved in the crash.
One of the vehicles was seen rolled over on its side with most of the top portion of the vehicle destroyed. The second vehicle appeared to be a construction vehicle, though it was difficult to observe the extent of damage from the viewpoint of the police perimeter established at the scene.
The white vehicle was seen being towed from the scene shortly before 6 p.m.
Several state police troopers responded, along with Ellsworth police, Winter Harbor Fire, Gouldsboro Fire, Sorrento Fire, Sullivan Fire, and Hancock Fire.
No information was released about the number of people in the vehicles or their condition.
