PORTLAND, Maine — A 16-year-old motorcyclist was taken to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries after a crash in Portland Sunday night.
It happened shortly before 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Brighton Avenue and Raymond Road, Portland police said Monday in a press release.
The teen was traveling east on Brighton Avenue when the motorcycle left the roadway and hit a tree, the release stated. Bystanders stopped and rendered aid to him until police and paramedics got to the scene, police said.
Police are investigating what caused the motorcycle to go off the road. Officials have not publicly identified the motorcyclist.
As of Monday morning no charges had been filed, according to the release.
