75-year-old Windham man dies after being hit by vehicle at Hannaford in Falmouth

Lt. Frank Soule of the Falmouth Police Department said the incident "appears to be a tragic accident" and "criminal charges are not expected."

FALMOUTH, Maine — A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in the parking lot of the Hannaford at 65 Gray Road in Falmouth on Friday. 

Lt. Frank Soule of the Falmouth Police Department confirmed to NEWS CENTER Maine that Philip Stevens, 75, of Windham, died at the scene.

Soule said the incident happened around 11:45 a.m. Friday morning.

"It's unfortunate to have anything like this happen to anybody with any accidental death and we're going to try to come up with any answers that we can for us and for loved ones," said Soule. 

Soule told NEWS CENTER Maine investigators were reconstructing the incident to determine what exactly happened. He said they are in the early stages, speaking to any witnesses, including store employees. However, he also said the incident "appears to be a tragic accident" and "criminal charges are not expected."
