NEW HAMPSHIRE, USA — There were 67 traffic violations, multiple drivers going over 100 Miles Per Hour (MPH), and one arrest during a law enforcement safety initiative Sunday aimed at curbing accidents on I-95 in Hampton, New Hampshire.

The traffic violations were tracked by aircraft monitoring, New Hampshire Department of Safety Public Information Officer Amber Lagace said in an email.

“The operation was conducted in response to the increasing number of traffic violations and crashes on New Hampshire highways," she added.

Lagace said officers tried to stop Salim Castro, 19, of Massachusetts after he was caught driving 94 MPH on the highway, but he took off driving over 120 MPH. Officials followed Castro by motorcycle and State Police aircraft until he exited the highway at exit 8.

Per the email, he was arrested after entering a parking lot of the New England Dragway.

Castro faces multiple charges, including reckless driving, resisting arrest, and driving without endorsement and registration.

Lagace said law enforcement will conduct similar initiatives to keep drivers safe on the highways.
