Officials release identities of people involved in triple fatal crash on Maine Turnpike

The crash was caused by a wrong-way driver, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.

PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine Department of Public Safety on Tuesday publicly identified the three people involved in a triple fatal crash on the Maine Turnpike.

The crash happened Wednesday, Nov. 29, in the area of northbound mile 45 in Portland. A Honda Civic traveling in the wrong direction at a high rate of speed struck a Toyota Rav4 head-on and, upon impact, both vehicles became fully engulfed in flames, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a release.

The driver and passenger in the Honda Civic died, as well as the driver of the Toyota Rav4, according to Moss. All three people were dead when first responders got to the scene, Moss said.

In an update Tuesday, Moss said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the woman who was driving the Toyota Rav4 as Alpha Anastacio, 33, of Portland.

The driver of the Honda Civic has been identified as Brandon Crawford-Adams, 23, of Old Orchard Beach, and Crawford-Adams' passenger has been identified as Julia Chapdelaine, 22, of Dudley, Massachusetts, according to Moss.

The crash remains under investigation, Moss said.

Prior to hitting the Rav4, the Honda Civic hit a silver 2020 Ford F-150 pickup truck in the area of northbound mile marker 48, according to Moss. The driver of the truck was not injured and reported minor vehicle damage, Moss said.
