BREWER (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Money is flowing to Maine with the goal of helping the flow of traffic between Route 9 and Interstate 395.
Rep. Bruce Poliquin went public on Friday with the information he learned in a phone call with U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao. She told him the DOT approved a $25 million grant to go toward construction of a connector between the two highways east of the Bangor area.
“One of the keys to fostering growth for our rural communities and job creators in Maine is improving our infrastructure, especially our roads, bridges and major highways,” Rep. Poliquin said.
The announcement from Poliquin's office said a link between the major travel arteries would improve access to commerce centers in Canada and relieve congestion in Bangor since drivers would no longer need to use Main Street as a go-between.
