Dysart's truck crashes off Maine Turnpike in Wells, spills about 55 gallons of diesel fuel

The driver, James Naaykens, 51, of Medway, was not injured, according to Maine Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.

WELLS, Maine — Maine Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said a Dysart's tanker truck went off the road near mile 16 southbound in Wells Monday morning. 

The tanker was empty but the tank that supplies fuel to the truck spilled approximately 55 gallons of diesel fuel, according to Moss. The Department of Environmental Management is on scene.

The driver, James Naaykens, 51, of Medway, was not injured, according to Moss.

Moss said just before 7 a.m., Naaykens lost control, drove off the right side of the roadway, and hit "several small trees."

One lane is closed and, as of 9:30 a.m., it isn’t expected to reopen for a couple of hours.
