Driver injured in Hermon dump truck crash

Deputies said the male driver was immediately taken to an area hospital with injuries considered critical.

HERMON, Maine — An investigation is underway following a crash that involved a dump truck Friday in Hermon.

Penobscot County Regional Communications received a call shortly before 10 a.m. about a dump truck that crashed on Newburgh Road, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office said in a release.

Law enforcement and emergency crews responded to the scene and discovered a loaded dump truck on its side, according to the release.

Deputies said the male driver was immediately taken to an area hospital with critical injuries.

The Department of Environmental Protection also responded to the scene to assist with a fuel spill.

The sheriff's office's criminal investigation division and accident reconstruction team, as well as the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Division, investigated the crash at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
