CASCO, Maine — A motorcyclist died from injuries sustained in a crash in Casco on Monday.
It happened around 4:30 p.m. in the area of 696 Meadow Road, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said in a release Tuesday.
Nicholas Murdock, 35, of Casco was traveling east on a 2014 Harley Davidson when he approached a corner, lost control of the motorcycle, and struck a mailbox and a guardrail, the release stated.
Murdock was flown to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to officials. He died at the hospital, the sheriff's office said in an update.
He was wearing a helmet. The sheriff's office said speed factored into the crash.
Meadow Road was shut down for a period during the crash response.
In addition to the sheriff's office, the Casco Fire Department and Casco EMS responded to the scene.
