ROCKLAND, Maine — A motorcyclist was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Wednesday night after being hit by a vehicle in Rockland.
Rockland police, fire, and EMS responded to Park Street near a local car wash around 6 p.m., according to a Thursday social media post by the police department.
The roadway remained closed while officials treated the motorcyclist and police investigated the crash, according to the post.
"It was determined the operator of the vehicle failed to yield, turning in front of the oncoming motorcycle," the post stated.
Police did not identify those involved in the crash but said the motorcyclist was taken to Maine Medical Center to be treated for "life-threatening injuries."
The driver of the vehicle was summonsed for the violation, officials said.
Rockland police issued a reminder to drivers to "look twice for motorcycles, bicyclists, and pedestrians."
