BIDDEFORD, Maine — The Biddeford Connector will be closed for over two weeks due to an upcoming emergency culvert repair.
The closure, slated for July 26 through Aug. 11, is expected to impact drivers exiting the Maine Turnpike using Exit 32, the City of Biddeford said in a news release.
The connector will be closed between Route 111 and Morin Street, and Morin Street will remain accessible throughout the closure, according to the release.
There will also be no access to Mountain Road from the connector, and local traffic seeking access to Mountain Road will have to use a detour to New Road/Old Alfred Road, the city said. A temporary traffic signal will be placed at the intersection of Alfred Street and New Road to assist with traffic flow safely.
"Detour signage will be placed along the route to direct drivers where to go, including specific signage for tractor-trailer drivers," the city said Thursday. "Drivers exiting the Maine Turnpike at Exit 32 who want to access Route 1 should turn left and follow detour signage to Edwards Avenue. To access the Maine Turnpike from Route 1, drivers will be directed to take Cole Road to Edwards Avenue and turn left onto Route 111."
