A 64-year-old pedestrian died in a road incident in Lewiston

Police say investigators determined the accident was an "intentional act" by the pedestrian after watching surveillance videos and speaking to witnesses.

LEWISTON, Maine — A 64-year-old man was killed following an accident in Lewiston Friday afternoon. 

At approximately 2:30 p.m., police were called to Main St. and Middle St. for an accident involving a pedestrian, Lewiston Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Derrick St. Laurent said in a news release.  

Officials found the pedestrian dead on the roadway, per the news release. 

They closed the road and began to investigate the accident.

Investigators determined the accident was an "intentional act" by the pedestrian after watching surveillance videos and speaking to witnesses.

Police did not identify the victim at the time of this release.
