ORONO, Maine — For the first time since the 2011-12 season, the University of Maine men's hockey team will play in a Hockey East Tournament semifinal game.

The No. 8 Black Bears beat rival No. 17 New Hampshire 5-0 Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd at Alfond Arena in Orono. Maine scored three goals in the second period, after a scoreless opening 20 minutes, then added two more in the third for the victory.

The Nadeau brothers led the way for the Black Bears Saturday night. Josh scored the first goal of the game with Bradly assisting. The two freshman ended the night with two goals and two assists each.

Junior forward Nolan Renwick added three assists while freshman goalie Albin Boija stopped all 18 shots he faced.

Maine will now look for its sixth Hockey East Tournament title when the Black Bears play Boston University in the semifinal round at 7:30 on Friday. With a win, Maine will advance to the championship game on Saturday. The Terriers are the two seed in the tournament and are also ranked No. 2 in the nation.

The two teams played in Boston early in the season, when Maine lost to BU in back-to-back games on the road.

Top-seed Boston College will play UMass-Amherst in the first semifinal game Friday night at 4 p.m.
