MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Kennebunk native Don Crisman arrived in Minneapolis Thursday to witness Super Bowl LII, making him one of an exclusive club to see every Super Bowl.
Crisman is part of the "Never Miss a Super Bowl Club," and is one of three living men who have attended all 51.
”I don’t know how far this is going to go. It’s going a lot farther than I’ve ever imagined," said Crisman.
Crisman remembers the first Super Bowl, when tickets cost just $12. Now, his seats for Super Bowl LII cost $1,600 each.
He said he recognized that the NFL Championship game would become more than a match-up between two teams.
”It could turn into the World Series of football, and I think it has and then some," said Crisman. ”It’s just in my blood. It’s something I want to do. I love the game.”
Crisman said that the big game is more stressful when the Patriots are playing in it because he cares about the outcome, but that his passion is not only about the game.
"Half of it is really about the other guys," he said.
The "Never Miss a Super Bowl' club has three living members, according to Crisman, one of whom he will meet for the first time this year. The other, a Steelers fan, typically rags on the Patriots.
Crisman's dear friend, Larry Jacobson, passed away in October 2017.
"He was like a family member -- one of a kind," Crisman said of Jacobson.
The two would spend days together after the Super Bowl, exploring the sights of the host cities, and traveling to each other's hometown to watch a football game.
Despite what time has taken away, it has also let Don create some incredible memories.
”We take it one year at a time and maybe we’ll get three or four more in," Crisman said of continuing his streak of attending every Super Bowl.
”The real key to this being a successful trip will be a win on Sunday," Crisman said of the Patriots. "That’s what it’s all about.”
