PARIS, France — He may have only won silver in Paris, but he's a gold medalist in winning over new fans.

Turkey's 51-year-old Yusuf Dikeç competed earlier this week in the 10m air pistol mixed team competition, alongside teammate Sevval Ilayda Tarhan.

The pair did quite well, reaching the gold medal match with Serbia where they came up just shy, 16-14.

But ultimately it was not the result, but Dikeç's fatherly confidence -- competing without specialized equipment, hand firmly in pocket -- that people took more notice of.

Take a look at some of the reactions below.

Reactions to Turkey shooter Yusuf Dikeç at Paris Olympics

The NBC Olympics account posted on X: "No fancy lenses. No headphones. Just vibes," in describing Dikeç's style.

James Thomas, a Euronews reporter, shared a comment from Dikeç in which he said: "I did not need special equipment, I'm a natural shooter."

Britain's BBC broadcasting service posted that, "A new character in Olympics shooting has been unlocked..."

Others posted stylized art of Dikeç.

The Turkish shooter also trended in Japan, who was compared to a gamer who wins at their own pace.

"Insane aura," football analyst Warren Sharp marveled.

Did Dikec win a medal?

He did, and it made history.

Dikec and Sevval Ilayda Tarhan won the silver medal in mixed team 10-meter air pistol shooting Tuesday. It was Turkey's first-ever medal in Olympic shooting.

Mikec and Zorana Arunovic won gold for Serbia. The bronze went to India's Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh.
